About Lester Bagley:
Lester Bagley brings more than three decades of public affairs and communications experience to his role as the Vikings Executive Vice President of Public Affairs. Currently in his 14th season with the Vikings, Bagley oversees the team’s public relations, public affairs and community relations programs.
Bagley also serves on the Minnesota Vikings executive management team and works closely with team owners Zygi, Mark and Lenny Wilf. He is part of the Vikings leadership team that planned and designed Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center, the new state-of-the-art Vikings team headquarters in Eagan, MN, that opened on March 5, 2018.
As TCO Performance Center comes on line, Bagley and the Vikings will ensure that the facility will be accessible to the public and Vikings fans. The Vikings organization is creating an outstanding fan experience at the first-ever Verizon Training Camp to be held in Eagan. In the fall of 2018, the Vikings will showcase high school football by hosting Friday Night Lights at the 6,500-seat TCO Stadium.
The Vikings new team headquarters and practice facility occupy approximately 40 acres of the 200-acre Viking Lakes project. The vision for the broader development includes a four-star hotel and conference center, new residences and other mixed uses as part of the live-work-play destination being developed by the Vikings ownership and leadership team.
On February 4, 2018, U.S. Bank Stadium hosted Super Bowl LII, to great acclaim from the NFL, participating teams, fans and the media. The Minneapolis-St. Paul community stepped up and delivered an outstanding event. Bagley worked with Vikings ownership and community leadership to secure the world’s marquee sporting event for our market, and he served on the Executive Board of the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee for the three years leading up to the game.
Also in 2018, Bagley worked with Vikings ownership on their acquisition of other sports properties, including the new Major League Soccer team in Nashville. The Vikings leadership team worked on the Nashville effort to secure a public-private stadium partnership and to design and build a state-of-the-art soccer stadium in Nashville.
As part of Bagley’s successful run at the Vikings, he played a leadership role in one of the most significant accomplishments in Vikings history – securing legislative and community support for the iconic U.S. Bank Stadium. The $1.1 billion facility, the largest construction project in Minnesota history, has proven to be one of the finest stadiums in the world. In 2017, U.S. Bank Stadium won the award for Venue of the Year at the StadiumBusiness Summit in Dublin, Ireland.
A native of Barron, WI, Bagley began college at the University of Minnesota before graduating from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). He served as a White House intern and studied at the University of Oxford during his undergraduate days.
Bagley currently serves as vice chair of the Minnesota Vikings Foundation, and serves on the boards of Sports Minneapolis, the Public Affairs Council and the Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce. Bagley and his wife Wendy, who is a graduate of the College of St. Catherine, reside in Minneapolis with their sons Michael and Charlie.
